Fourteen Oscar Nominations
La La Land tied the record for the most Academy Award nominations received by a single film, winning six.

Here's to the fools who dream.
Mia, an aspiring actress, serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions and Sebastian, a jazz musician, scrapes by playing cocktail party gigs in dingy bars, but as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.
Why it's in the Vault
La La Land is a charming, visually dazzling tribute to Hollywood musicals, jazz and the pursuit of artistic dreams. Damien Chazelle turns Los Angeles into a colorful stage where music and romance drift between everyday life and fantasy. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling share an appealing chemistry, while Justin Hurwitz's melodies give the film much of its personality and emotional warmth. Beneath the elegant choreography lies a bittersweet reflection on ambition, relationships and the choices that shape a life. Still, its dreamy pacing can feel somewhat drawn out, and not every sequence sustains the same level of interest. The film's beauty and musical imagination are undeniable, even if its length prevents it from becoming a personal favorite. A lovely, accomplished musical, best appreciated for its atmosphere, performances and memorable songs.
